It is interesting to go from the practicing advertising profession to the advertising education profession. Granted, there are plenty of similarities — it continues to be a race to keep up. Once a report or book comes out, it's outdated months later, the technology needs are growing, and people continue to dislike what they don't understand.

And our marketing and advertising teachers are just as crazy as our advertising practicing colleagues. We fit right in.

It wasn't until we fully joined the educational system that we saw how glaring some of the needs are. Many of the anecdotes you hear are true; many teachers spend their own money on school supplies. Some teachers get to the school at 5 a.m. and don't leave until 5 p.m. These people-loving souls desperately try to get today's youth to care about education and their learning. If your local school allows it, spend half a day with a teacher in their classroom just to see the mayhem. Granted, some will be better than others (same with agencies, right?) but any experience will show you that the salary teachers get versus what they do is confusing and unjust.
