Dell’s Marketing of Smallest Laptop is Huge!

We must confess: We are Dell users. We love the company and since owning laptops have only purchased Dells. They have lasted five years each, and their support have been wonderful. So, when we receive a Dell mailing, we are receptive and perhaps biased. Whether you are a Dell fan or not, their latest marketing mailing promoting the world’s smallest 13” laptop is impressive.

Once our daughter was old enough to get the mail, she took it on as her job. She became disappointed when most of the mail was bills (me too!) and there was little mail addressed to her. We had to enlist our family to send her mail, and we sent her some ourselves just to delight her. Many of us can identify with the thrill of getting something exciting in the mailbox. It might be a package, envelope, catalog, or in this case, a Dell laptop replica promotional piece.

The off-white with gray shadowed edge piece looked like a flat laptop with the Dell logo emblazoned in the center. The simple marketing statement was “Introducing the world’s smallest 13” laptop.” We opened up the clear plastic envelope to learn about the XPS 13 computer. Dell says the XPS13 has the world’s first virtually borderless infinity display. The mailer opens like a laptop to show normal display margins and then opens up again to show the narrow border on the new screen.

The piece looked so real that we wanted to start typing on it. The screen border allows a smaller laptop to look big. We still have another six months on this laptop, so we will start thinking about our next purchase, and it’s good to know this computer exists. All in all, another great computer design and marketing piece from Dell!
