|PETA Strikes Again in Weird Ad Campaign
By: Dwayne W. Waite Jr.
We are all for advocacy. We believe that if a brand or organization believes in something strongly enough to create an ad campaign for it or against it, then by all means, do it.
That doesn't mean AdLand and society need to like it.
Again, PETA is fulfilling its seldom called-upon duty to fulfill that role.
We know that PETA gets a bad rap for doing odd things because the majority of society (at least, it seems) doesn't feel the same extremely strong and personal feelings towards animals that the organization does. Don't get it twisted; we believe that killing animals for sport and leisure is gross and unlawful, but if you're using the animal for science, food, clothing, or another use, do it. We find it tough to have an argument against it.
This time, PETA is going after science.
The source article describes and links to how the celebrity in this ad, Miley Cyrus' little sister Noah, actually went through the ad behind the scenes. It seems that Noah has a real issue with dissecting animals for science and school purposes.
Again, though understandable, we find it difficult to place it in the "cruel" section.
Below is the ad. Let us know your thoughts.
