Honda Launches Advocacy Campaign

We have all heard about the massive product recall Honda and Mazda have announced, declaring that its Takata air bag inflators can actually cause damaging results.

Yes, when your airbag can send dangerous shards of metal along with the bag, perhaps it is time to start to warn more consumers about it.

Honda is taking the right course. Reuters is reporting that starting March 16 Honda will begin a massive advocacy campaign urging its consumers to get their cars checked to see if their airbag needs some serious fixing.

We hope that this kind of advertising also boosts the positive image of Honda because they are not being forced to do this. But if we do want to play Devil's Advocate, spending this amount of money on a national campaign is probably less expensive than being found guilty of negligence and having to pay consumers out of a substantial fund.

Still, they could do that if they wanted to, and we are unsure of the legal implications, so that still might happen. If it does, perhaps the judge or regulatory body will show mercy on Honda because of its efforts to reach their customers.

If you are a Honda owner, and you bought the car within the past couple of years, please heed Honda's warning. It's serious enough.
