Yahoo Email Ads Favored by ASPCA

Usually when we sign in to our Yahoo email account, we sign in for the day. The Yahoo email ad fills up the entire screen with the exception of our email log-in box. It’s huge, colorful, and eye catching. Sometimes we just refresh the screen to see how many ads there are and to see which ones are displaying. Today there were Holland Cruises, Princess Cruises (surprised to have competitors from the same industry), and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). ASPCA grabbed our attention with those dog eyes!

The ASPCA ad is captivating. They have three different versions you might see depending on when you log in to your Yahoo email and how many times you sign in and out during the day. The huge image of a pet’s face creates a strong emotional connection. Looking into the eyes of a sweet dog that needs your help is a great way to move you to respond. The ad is asking for a donation and explains what your monthly support can do for pets.

We like Yahoo ads because of their size. We’re not sure how many ads are actually seen, since many people don’t sign in and out of their email multiple times each day. Our guess is that only one ad per user is seen. That may still be enough if ASPCA is looking for small amounts from individuals and they can afford to advertise on Yahoo. It must be working.
