|Tennis Tuesday: Make the Day Work for You
By: Cindy Wendland
We like to label the days of the week and give them themes. It makes life more fun and memorable. At our house we have Manners Monday, Taco Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Thrilling Thursday, and Freaky Friday. It makes our dinners and evenings interesting. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) promotes Tennis Tuesday in their email blasts. Knowing we will receive an email from the USTA each week gives us a heads-up to think about tennis on Tuesdays and something to look forward to. This can be done for other businesses, too.
Marie Forleo sends her email blasts out on a certain day of the week as well. If she wants to make a splash, she will send it out on another day, so you know it is special, but it is done sparingly. USTA could have picked another day, but Tennis Tuesday has a nice sound to it, and now on Tuesdays, we find ourselves looking for their email. Their subject line is Tennis Tuesday Presents, then they offer a varying subject — U.S. Open Celeb spotting, Federer’s last stand, etc. It’s clever and works.
During the Halloween season, Wicked Wednesdays might be a great way to promote Halloween, or how about Wedding Wednesday for wedding-related companies? It’s a simple way to make email blasts more memorable. Maybe it can work for you.
