Ever explain to someone the theme of the book series The Hunger Games? It comes off sounding pretty bad, and the listener is wondering what interest that topic would hold. Well, The Hunger Games is big business, and Marcus Theatres just email blasted all the specials they are offering for this big release.
If you like a movie, would trinkets make you want to see it more? That is what Marcus and the movie promo people are thinking. You can take your pick from three special offers. You could see the new Mockingjay movie and receive a Mockingjay water bottle. You could see all three movies in a movie marathon and receive a lanyard, keychain, and concessions all day long. Or, you could get a Mockingjay metal popcorn tub complete with free refills. Hmmm, which would you choose?
Their theme is "Hungry for Excitement?" The Mockingjay movie release is exciting and the offers are interesting, too. For the target market, they would be quite appealing. (For anyone outside of the target market who still wants to see the movie, they could just pay the normal price.) All these promotional offers serve to increase the excitement and make it a bigger event to go see the movie. The mementos can be used over again, and they may encourage moviegoers to see the movie additional times. Great marketing with promo items.
