Advertisers expect (and pay for) a big audience during NFL football games. During the Packer/Saints game, Toyota advertised the Camry in a memorable, light-hearted, and fun way. Their pitch was the Camry Combine and it was great.

You may have heard of the combine, but if you haven’t, the NFL scouting combine is a week-long showcase occurring every February at Lucas Oil Stadium where college football players perform physical and mental tests in front of National Football League coaches, general managers, and scouts. Toyota did their version of the combine and called it the “Camry Combine,” where the best and boldest are put to the test!

The Camry combine has a variety of tests. One is the window roll test where you are timed putting down your window. Another test is the hood slide, where a person jumps up onto and over the hood. Another test shows a woman carrying two bags of groceries (in eco-friendly bags) pushing the car door closed with her leg — over and over. The commentary is funny. Coach T says “She’s a walk-on.”

The whole commercial was light-hearted and fun. It carried the same theme as the program in which it was advertised. It showed positive aspects of the Camry. It was refreshing and different from your usual car commercial. The actors delivered their lines in the right tone and energy. The Camry is one of the best selling cars, and this marketing will keep them selling more cars.
