Shazzlemail: Email for the Paranoid |

Are you worried big brother is reading your email or that your privacy is being invaded? Once it became public that the government was intercepting private emails, alternative email options started coming to market. Coming in August, Shazzlemail offers a free privacy-protective and surveillance-resistant secure email service. Unless the NSA is trying to read your email, no one else will be able to hack it or track it.
With most email, there is a central system that processes the email. With traditional email services, the metadata (sender, recipient, timestamp or subject message) is not encrypted. Shazzlemail doesn’t use an email relay or main server. Emails are encrypted and go directly from a user’s smartphone or computer directly to the receiver’s smartphone or computer. The message can only be delivered if both sender and receiver have their devices powered on.
The founder of Shazzlemail admits he is paranoid. If you are a paranoid user and really concerned about your privacy, Shazzlemail may be a great option for you. Shazzlemail does offer a business option for $5 a month. The only problem with the business service is the use of domain name email. Google servers have really clamped down on allowing emails through that don’t originate from the source — meaning forwarded emails are not being consistently delivered. Does a company want to offer a secondary email address for conversations that are confidential? Perhaps.
Some people have had their email addresses for a very long time and they are as much a part of their makeup as their birth date. People thought their email messages were secure before, but now things are being taken up a notch. How many people will switch to Shazzlemail for the privacy? It will be a tradeoff between the familiar and the secure.
