|Amazon Offers Streaming Music to Build Customer Loyalty
By: Cindy Wendland
Who can argue with Amazon? They do nearly everything well. Their recent announcement that they're going to offer streaming music as part of their prime service adds additional value for customers who like free shipping.
Some say the Amazon move is to counteract Apple’s purchase of Beats. Amazon is definitely trying to sweeten the pot to build customer loyalty and encourage customers to do more with Amazon. Proponents of Amazon say that customers don’t even know about services already available, which does seem to be true. Did you know that Amazon offers a service called Prime Pantry, a grocery store delivery service? We didn’t either, and we are Amazon prime customers. Who handles the communication strategy?
Regardless of what is communicated, streaming music is where the interest is right now. Downloading music is passé, and Amazon recognizes that. Streaming music is what people want, so Amazon negotiated deals with most of the music companies to get the music people want. They offer over one million songs and expert-programmed playlists. Best of all, it’s ad free.
The move makes sense — free shipping, grocery delivery, and streaming music. Now if they offer banking and real estate, we won’t have to go anywhere else.
