The digital ad scene is changing quickly. The big players are still trying to hang on to their market share, while small and new ones are biting at their heels.

Enter Google Preferred.

Google Preferred is an advertising service that bundles the top five percent of activity across 14 different areas. The goal is to continue to attract big spenders away from traditional advertising like TV, and create sustainable, positive partnerships.

According to the source, agency DigitasLBI and brand Johnson & Johnson have already signed up.

This is also a blow to those companies attempting to create their own advertising platforms and try to partner with agencies. Though it may have been only a matter of time before Google came out with a tool that curates its own content, at least give the little guys a chance.

Google Preferred has the chance of being wildly successful. Leveraging Google's strongest arm, advertising, to open up a channel of revenue is a great idea. Google is still the way to go until another search provider can rival or better what they're doing.
