Happy Belated Birthday, Bobbi Brown! The makeup artist and founder of makeup line Bobbi Brown Cosmetics celebrated her birthday yesterday on April 14. Her birthday wish is to have you support Girl Rising in three ways: see the movie, host a screening, and buy Pretty Powerful mascara.

First off, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is a brand that stands for enhancing the beauty already there in a woman. Her makeup is designed to accentuate existing beauty. She fights the beauty-industry belief that there is a look people should aspire to. She believes in bringing out natural beauty in all women and empowering women to be who they are.

In 2013, she started the Pretty Powerful Campaign — a foundation to fund non-profit organizations around the world that provide women and girls with the education and resources to be their best.

For her birthday wish, she asks people to see the movie Girl Rising, host a screening, and buy Pretty Powerful mascara. She says the movie is amazing and inspiring. Then she asks you to share it. So many businesses today are building their brands by having people share them with others, whether through network marketing or Facebook sharing. Bobbi Brown is asking you to share a movie to raise awareness. Finally, she wants you to buy a limited-edition mascara from which every cent of the sale goes to support the Pretty Powerful campaign.

Many of us are looking for the little things we do to mean more. When we pick up souvenirs on a vacation, the purpose is to remind us of the good times. In this case, putting on our Pretty Powerful mascara each morning will remind us that there are women and girls in the world who don’t have access to education and resources, but now will. It’s a great way to give back and make simple things mean more. If mascara can help girls receive education, what else can be done? Happy Belated Birthday, Bobbi Brown, and may your wish come true!
