A week after dropping a behemoth amount for the mobile messaging company WhatsApp, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg spoke at the Mobile World Congress about the company’s future. But he didn’t want to use the platform to discuss this major purpose.

According to Zuckerberg, Facebook wants to bring cheap or free Internet to people around the world.

"Most people in the world don't have access to the Internet at all. After Facebook reached its milestone of connecting a billion people, we stepped back and thought, 'How can we change the rest of world?'"

Facebook is heavily involved in a project called internet.org. The project is a collaboration by several carrier partners, a list continuously growing thanks to Zuckerberg. The group consists of experts, non-profits, leaders in tech, and members of local communities, all with the goal of expanding the Internet to places without access.

For Zuckerberg, making the Internet cheaper and easier to access is a good cause. It’s also good for business. By expanding the reach of the Internet, Facebook is also expanding its reach.
