Facebook's Mobile Ad Growth

If you’re checking Facebook on your phone, you’ve probably started noticing an increase in ads showing up in your news feed. The social media giant has made a considerable investment in ensuring ads show up in the feeds of its mobile users. The investment paid off, with the company experiencing a 76% growth at the end of last year.

For quite a long time, Facebook’s mobile app was ad free because it wasn’t set up to display ads within the news feed. While refreshing to users, it was clearly a concern for advertisers, and not a moneymaker for Facebook. Considering that now, more than ever before, users are accessing online content on their mobile devices, marketing has had to make a shift in how it advertises to consumers.

The mobile shift meant that Facebook needed to find a way to integrate ads into its mobile news feed in order to assure marketers the ads would actually reach users of the social media network. Now, regardless of where the 100 million daily Facebook users access their feed, ads can be displayed.

Facebook also stated that they expect the same positive growth for ads within Instagram, where advertising is just getting started.
