Word of mouth is how many businesses and apps grow. Dropbox, the app that downloads pictures off your phone onto your computer, offers extra space when you refer a friend. Facebook is full of friends posting requests asking for recommendations on anything from dance teachers to soccer classes to landscape contractors. This past Thanksgiving weekend, family gave the ultimate recommendation with Uber.

Visiting the Windy City of Chicago over the Thanksgiving weekend provided the opportunity to spend time with family. Getting from place to place was the simplest it has ever been with the help of an app called Uber. If you are fortunate enough to have an extravagant sister, you may get pampered, or in this case, Ubered.

Spending time with family who live far away is a very special treat. Anything that enhances that time is very memorable. Enter Uber. Uber is a mobile app that is a quick way to order a cab or car. All the payment is set up ahead of time, so no cash changes hands. Email receipts are sent instantly at the end of the ride. Many of the cars are black Cadillac Escalades, black Lincolns, or similar cars if you utilize the Uber Black service. That is most appropriate for an extravagant sister.

To get to our lunch destination, sister entered our location and destination in the Uber app. The driver’s name and photo was instantly provided as well as a map with the car’s current location. In minutes we were whisked off to our lunch. At the end of the afternoon, we were again Ubered as she ordered another car to take us back to the train station. The tab went on her bill, the car was super clean and classy, and we felt pampered and safe. For the cities where Uber is available, Uber is awesome and being Ubered is possibly the perfect end to a wonderful family experience.
