Just as traditional Black Friday ridiculously inches back by the hour, the sounds of the holidays are set to play "earlier" into our shopping plans before the Halloween candy has time to leave the clearance shelves.  

Tapping feet and unshakeable ear-(hum)bugs are the first signs of being gently poked by the subliminal spirit of "get in the happy giving mood" with undertone shoutouts of: SHOP EARLY!
It’s no coincidence to be captured by the catchy tunes of the season; in fact, that is the "soul" point. Target does this year round and nobody does it better.
Music is therapeutic and what better time to add a soundtrack than when people are open to receiving the gift of happy, even if ever so briefly through delightful musical shorts?
Yes! Advertising is at its jolly best during this time of year. As sweet little spots appear in retail website corners that hopefully make e-readers want to hit the replay over and over with results of making a purchase or think kindly of the entertaining brand with their virtuous good cause.
Yet the truly clever enters the picture when the advertiser takes advantage of the current so hot it sizzles, or iconic talent we warmly embrace. How can a brand lose? 
Kmart has been breaking barriers and has gone viral in the past year. Their tongue-in-cheek double entendre advertising pulled out all the stops with edgy/corny giggles, but now has turned another 360 as it has captured PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive 2013, Adam Levine, in a hot, steamy, top-notch video with Maroon 5’s music playing in the background. This frontman, "Voice" coach, and new Kmart reasonably priced men’s ShopYourWay.com collection talent truly changes the image for a big-box store like Kmart, which just may have the merriest season of all. Did Kmart have a secret insider tip to know Adam was going to nail this title??
The Gap also deserves a mention as they subtly include a little of everybody’s favorite, Tony Bennett, founder of Exploring The Arts Foundation, which is supported by the Gap. Through this delightful video, Mr. Bennet shares a classical moment with an up-and-coming generation of hopeful talented protégés. Definitely deserving of a few extra replays, if not a download.
‘Tis the season to make merry, so let them entertain us. We might just lose our minds and spend an extra moment, relishing a better mood, if not spending an extra dollar.
