Chromecast $35 Deal or No Deal |

Transferring information from one medium to another is powerful. Viewing the video from your phone on your TV is exciting. It seems we all want to watch things bigger. Want to watch a movie or TV show, listen to music, or view pictures? Now Google is offering the ability to do that from any device — mobile, tablet, or PC.
For $35 you can plug and play. There is no remote required; just use your device to control the TV. How refreshing! That is what the exciting commercial portrays. However, upon review of reviews, it is somewhat limited and difficult to set up.
Chromecast supports Google Play, YouTube, and Netflix, but is not a second-screen enabler. If everything you were viewing on your mobile or tablet could be cast to the TV by pushing the button, that would be terrific. It is not there yet. Whatever you are viewing on your laptop through the Chrome browser can be cast to your TV, but it is just as easy to connect a cable from the TV to the laptop to make that happen. For sampling viewing movies and music on the TV, it works. But there is a myriad of additional ways of already accomplishing that.
Until broader features are available and more apps are supported, the Chromecast was underwhelming for $35 and is a no deal.
