Google+ has updated itself big time this week. In an announcement Tuesday, Google unveiled 18 new features.

Google+ Hangouts have the most updates, including SMS messaging, geo-location using Google Maps, as well as GIF support. Additionally, the video hangouts are finally now in fullscreen HD.

There have also been numerous improvements to Google+’s photo service. Users can now edit, including using the Auto Awesome Erase tool. This new tool allows you to remove people, objects, etc. from the photo. It could mean an end to photobombing as we know it.

Also new is an algorithm for searching within photos, promising to enhance search results whether you’ve tagged the image or not. The search ability isn’t limited to your own photos, either. You’re able to use keywords to navigate through the images of your circles.

The new features come a week after Facebook’s debut of its upgrades to the Facebook Messenger app. One of the key features of the Messenger update is the ability to send SMS messages to anyone, not just those you’re friends with on Facebook.

The Google+ updates are available for iOS now, and will be available for Android very soon.
