Booz Allen Handling a PR Storm

Booz Allen Hamilton, the technology consulting firm, finds itself in a whirlwind of publicity with the news that an employee for a brief spell, Edward Snowden, has leaked news of the National Security Agency's massive monitoring of telephone records in its fight against terrorism. That's a crisis communication challenge, indeed, and Booz, advises Critical Mention on the Business2Community site, has risen to it pretty well. In a follow-up story, The Washington Post advises that Booz Allen has been keeping a low profile re the NSA situation. "The episode has created a case study for crisis communication experts to ponder, as contractors feel out their role in the often-secret world of cybersecurity and data collection," The Post says. "'I'm going to give them (Booz Allen) the benefit of (the) doubt that they're collecting their thoughts...,' said Gene Grabowski, executive vice president of crisis communications firm Levick Strategic Communications."
