Without too much effort, or taking too much time, we've amassed a list of 89 blogs on, or closely related to, public relations. But who are all those writers? Which of them are most closely attuned our interests? Good questions that cause Danny Brown, one of our listed bloggers, to write on "The Clear and Continuing Need for Blogger Outreach Specialists at PR Agencies."

With blogging, you've got a whole new universe of interests to master. And it's not like maintaining a mailing list of a couple of dozen newspaper outlets. With newspapers, mastheads mainly matter. With blogs, it's the writers you need to follow, regularly and thoughtfully. Who has time for that, really, if you're practicing traditional public relations as well? A PR firm that wants to master the blogosphere needs a staffer with the time to roam around there without distractions. A blogger awareness specialist.

As Danny Brown writes, "Bloggers aren't special, just different." Bloggers aren't projectiles from familiar, habitually ranked mastheads. They're individuals with subtle, evolving interests of their own. Somebody in your shop needs to get to know them, without distractions from the outside world. Bloggers need to be taken very seriously, or forget any hope of influencing them for very long.
