The advertising spots for the Super Bowl are attracting a lot of buzz, and few more than the spots from Honda and H&M. Honda just revealed that it is the company behind the YouTube hit of Broderick's reprise appearance of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and this week H&M released the advertisement that features Mr. Soccer himself, David Beckham, in his underwear.
First: Honda CR-V, "Matthew's Day Off" #dayoff
The extended version below is part of Honda's "Leap List" campaign, which encourages people to go off into the world and do things they've always wanted to do. Of course, the best vehicle to do that, Honda wisely suggests, is in its CR-V. With the subtle references to the movie, this commercial is certainly not targeting the younger part of Generation Y. Check it out.
Second: H&M, David Beckham Bodywear
The next spot is by H&M, and it is its first time heavily investing in TV advertising. Not only did they pony up the $3.5 million to place it in the second quarter, but they also produced the ad in-house. H&M has traditionally stuck with print ads and some digital work. The ad features Beckham in his underwear, spinning around for the world to see his tattoos and bodywear. Once we heard H&M was using Beckham to push his product line, this is the kind of commercial we figured (unfortunately) we'd see. Ladies, enjoy:
So far we've seen ads from GoDaddy, Honda, H&M, a brief clip of Century 21, and a 10-second teaser from...whoever brand has Adrianna Lima. This Sunday is going to be an interesting one for sure!
