Here's an opportunity to land a smart, prospering PR client, if you're located in the New York City area. Twitter is looking for PR help. "Twitter is on the hunt for an agency to help it through its next stage of growth," AdAge reports. Twitter's current stage of its five-year existence has brought it to a market valuation of $8 billion. Using Twitter as a proxy for social media channels in general, what strategies and tactics occur to influence tweeters around the world?

The need for effective social media presence is permeating PR these days, as an increasingly important part of the mix. While you're hanging out on Twitter, or whatever other social media platform you use, imagine what you could be proposing to help it expand its already engaging presence.

Twitter is also looking for PR support in London, AdAge says, although it's not clear whether it's running a separate search there. The microblogging service has also been hiring communication executives. Twitters founders, Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, and Biz Stone, have been its primary spokespeople but have "stepped away from day-to-day operations, moving on to other projects."

Oh dear, all involved need to keep Twitter from becoming bureaucratized.
