Good PR Is About Substance, Not Sham

Decent public relations come in the planning for a situation, not the announcements about it. That seems exemplified by the schedule the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has set for consideration of its planned toll increases on its bridges and tunnels.

Notes the Newark-based Star Ledger, hearings on the proposed increases will all be held the same day at Port Authority facilities "less than two weeks after the announcement, and three days before Aug. 19, when the Port Authority's board gathers to vote on the hike."

Looks like an "in your face" move from here — a negation of good public relations. Lining up all the interests in support of the Port Authority's spending seems pretty gauche, too.
