Metro: Rolling Along on Social Media

Washington's Metro public transportation system has hired a full-time social media manager to help improve its presence on Twitter and Facebook and have a "two-way dialogue" with customers. A neat way to help explain why escalators take so long to repair, and to learn what else is bothering riders.

The new social media manager, Brian Anderson, 31, has been working at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) in Philadelphia, where he's known for his SEPTA In Motion videos, like one featuring members of the Philadelphia Orchestra playing at a downtown station.

Moving PR onto trains and buses via hand-held devices makes a lot of sense. Anderson says he's a big fan of Apple's Steve Jobs.
