Global warming and environmental protection are heated topics lately, given the outcome of the American Election earlier this week. While many have been vocal in their agreement with the president elect that global warming is a fallacy, others have been prompted to be equally, if not more, vocal about not only their belief in the phenomenon, but their support to those who combat it.

What does this mean for you as a marketer? If your brand takes steps to make your operation environmentally friendly, your keywords are, as they say, trending.

As a small business owner myself, I can tell you firsthand that it’s incredibly important to push out relevant marketing when certain issues that your company can speak to take the national stage. I predict that the topic of global warming specifically will only be trending – people who don’t normally talk about it are – for another week. There will be another spike when Trump is sworn in, but overall, the public will move on as soon as there is another story to focus on. Now is the time!
