Finding Love At First Taste: Knorr

You know, I’ve been macking on girls for some time, and I can say I’m pretty good. But I’ve been single for a while. Just chilling. Minding my own business. Swag up!

Today I saw a commercial…well, not a commercial, but a video by Knorr, the food manufacturer. It made me want a steady girlfriend. I had to do a player-test. Wow! What’s going on? You good? Player having an emotional moment? If you saw it, you couldn’t help but like it too.

Some people are saying video will soon replace traditional advertising. I think sometimes you need three minutes to really share the love.

We all know Knorr makes side dishes, seasonings, gravies, sauces, bouillons, recipes, mixes, home-style stock, and even Latin Spices. The good stuff, too. I’ve been known to throw a few sides dishes in here and there. Yet I hadn’t experienced the entire ensemble until today. Here I am, scrolling through LinkedIn, and there’s this post that reads #KnorrLoveAtFirstTaste inside a YouTube video player.

The ad guy in me was like, “This could be cool.” And the chubby kid that lives in my stomach, a.k.a. Mikie's twin brother from the Chex commercials, said, "Dude, the food has to be really good — it’s three minutes long." I found myself pressing play. When I hit play, it was this kind of dating-show format going on where a narrator was asking guys and girls about how long they’ve been single. You know, the regular dating-show spiel.

However, the twist was that they asked them about their favorite food tastes. Once the contestants answered, they were told, “You’re going to be matched with the person who has your same tastes. And you are going to have to feed the other person the entire meal. You can’t put a thing in your mouth.”

At first, I thought to myself, “This is really weird. What if she didn’t wash her hands or has dirt under her nail polish?” But then I looked at the roster of girls. I wouldn’t mind being paired with any of those ladies for a food experience. The chubby kid in my stomach has an insatiable appetite for pretty girls, too. Don’t ask; I don’t know how it all works together.

For three minutes I watched the couples have a great time. Some moments got a little kinky, but hey, food has been known to be an aphrodisiac. Yet the beauty in the entire experience was that you can have the food you love with the one you love and even sometimes fall in love. Love at first sight is real. I’ve experienced that. But love at first taste is something I have to try one day.

Check it out for yourself here and try this on a new date. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll fall in love.
