A winning combination in the art world is Dali, Disney, and 3D. At the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, they are getting contemporarily creative with technology. A new exhibit, "Disney and Dali: Architects of the Imagination," is being marketed as an immersing 3D experience.

Marketing in the fine arts world has to take it up a notch to compete with all the other forms of entertainment. Browsing in a gallery is still nice for some age groups, but the younger crowd is used to involvement and instant feedback. Paintings that just hang on the wall may not be stimulating enough for some. When people stare at a painting, are they trying to picture themselves in it or are they trying to understand what the artist was thinking and experiencing during the creation process?

The exhibit offers a new way to experience paintings by throwing you right into the painting. What could be better than being in the actual painting and walking through it? 3D technology makes that happen for a Dali painting in the museum. You get the feeling of actually being in the painting. Can you imagine a painting where you are sitting next to the Mona Lisa or you are on a horse and part of the actual fox chase? All these things can be done as well with virtual reality.

The exhibit is creative and new age and hopefully will attract Millennials. It’s a great approach to showcase art in a new way.
