Talitha Kum Steps Outside the Box

In this month of getting in the spirit and donating time or money to good causes, it would seem we have an example to follow that not only raises the bar, but will be difficult to emulate. The Talitha Kum sisters are nuns who dress like prostitutes and infiltrate brothels worldwide to rescue victims of sex trafficking and children sold into slavery.

Sex trafficking is a horrific topic. There are many ways to view rescuing victims, but again, in this season of charity and giving, let’s view these as a charity to which we can contribute and to which we can compare our own charitable efforts. In certain scenarios, people talk about being “all in.” This means making a commitment with conviction. The Talitha Kum sisters definitely committed with conviction. They stepped out of their box and immersed themselves in horrible situations in order to rescue those who need helping.

While we don’t purport to recommend that people put themselves in harm’s way or even go as drastic as the Talitha Kum, we do respect their efforts. We are recommending being charitable in a big way, and if you are using your brand to do good for others, do it for something that has a huge impact or rights a wrong. Take a stand on some injustice, go all in, and try to make it better. That will be a respectable brand effort.
