Attention dog owners. There is another great place to visit and yes, you can bring Fido! A dog-friendly tavern is opening in the mid-sized town of Janesville, Wisconsin. While dog-friendly bars and restaurants do exist, this one has some unique features you and your pet will enjoy.

The new tavern is called Barkley's Burgers, Brews, and Dawgs. The interesting twist is the dog park behind the bar. Owners can drop their dog off at the dog park, then head inside for food and libations. Just to make sure they don’t feel as if they abandoned their pup, they can watch the dog playing on a TV monitor. It reminds us of grocery shopping while children played in the play area, which was all viewable on TV screens throughout the store.

We really like the personal twists. “Patrons can purchase memberships for their dogs. In return, each dog registered will get a water bowl and tag. The dogs will get a treat for each visit, and owners can bring a framed 4-by-6 photo of their pets for the bar wall.” There will also be a dog of the week. We are sure there are some who will want that designation and probably post it on their Facebook wall.

Even if you don’t have a dog, it can still be fun to watch the dogs on the monitor. Some people go to venues to people watch. People could go to Barkley’s to dog watch. The idea is fun and creative and will help the tavern stand out from so many others.
