I’ve always been fascinated by the process of beer making; how distilleries take grain and turn it into liquid gold to fill the taste buds. The beer world is serious on selection and taste — it has everything from summer beers to seasonal beers, ales, and stouts. You name it.
 
Now microbrewing is one step smaller with the introduction of the PicoBrew Zymatic, a mini-distillery that you can manage right in your kitchen. 

I have been to plenty of local breweries in Chicago. When you enter and see the giant keg-like machines that dispense the party juice, you might think, “Wow…I’d have to buy all of that just to get one bottle. I’ll come here and chill instead of doing all that legwork.” Yet those who are more enthusiastic than others can become a member of the brewer tribe — or at least an associate member — with the PicoBrew.

It’s the world’s first fully automatic, all-grain brewing appliance. Priced at $1,999.00, it brews all BJCP styles in an average of four hours and produces 2.5G finished beer batches. It comes with a recipe library with over 40 award-winning recipes. Perfecto, mi amigos. It also comes with a “Predictive Recipe Crafter tool for custom recipe creation.” Translated: It keeps you from jacking things up. You can even order prepackaged recipe ingredient kits for beers. Plus, it connects to picobrew.com via wifi or Ethernet for access to all the services available online.

To date, over 1,000 batches have been brewed on the PicoBrew Zymatic, and PicoBrew is slowly but surely building a brand community with brewers who are mastering their recipes and creating their own. The age of the maker is here, and brands that are empowering makers are surely going to make some serious waves in their industries.
