Go Totally Green and Eat the Cup Your Coffee Came In

Reduce, reuse, and recycle are three green objectives. We must admit that we are not as good as others at trimming waste and being conscious of all we produce and throw out. When the solution is easy, we are must more likely to participate. KFC’s new edible coffee cup in the UK is an interesting step toward being green.

First of all, KFC is not known for their coffee. But it does make more sense to offer an edible cup for coffee rather than an edible container for mashed potatoes. KFC’s idea is to have a cookie cup with a white chocolate interior. The white chocolate melts from the inside of the cup and sweetens the coffee. Once the white chocolate and coffee are gone, the cookie cup has softened and will be easier to eat.

There are interesting extensions of this idea: a pizza delivery box made out of breadsticks, an egg carton made out of rice cakes, and the potential list goes on. Maybe someday we will be at a restaurant and we will eat all of our dishes and the busboy won’t have to clear the table, just wipe off the crumbs. This edible dinnerware had better be low in calories and light on our stomachs, otherwise we’ll all add a few pounds. The concept is great to reduce waste and offer a unique package.
