21 Days of Gift-fest with McDonald’s and American Express

The holiday season brings a time of giving and receiving. In the corporate world, it is a time when companies try to give back, help the needy, and show they are “good” companies and socially responsible. This year McDonald’s and American Express partnered for 21 days of gift-fest. What does this mean? They are giving away $90,000 in gift cards every day.

Every day? Yes; you can enter by going to the McDonald’s website, scan the QR codes on some large products, or go in-store. They are giving away an impressive amount of American Express gift cards and McDonald’s gift cards: 21 twenty-thousand-dollar American Express Gift Cards; 84 five-thousand-dollar American Express Gift Cards; 2,100 $500 American Express Gift Cards; and 2,100 twenty-dollar McDonald's Arch Cards. They are giving away 4,305 prizes worth $1,932,000 ($92,000/day). Wow!

You have to enter your email in every day, so McDonald’s is building a huge email database. Is it worth $1.9 million? Well, McDonald’s is getting publicity from their commercials, their website, and on shopping mall websites that contain McDonald’s. That’s worth something, and they will be viewed positively for their generosity. To have the chance to win these prizes, you have to register and then enter your same email every day. So, you didn’t just verify your email by typing it twice, you verify it every day. This will be quite a valid database, and the people who enter their email many days during the 21 day period have established themselves as the top tier of the customer market. It’s giving and it’s brilliant.
