Black November Mystery Savings From Treetopia

Rather than Black Friday, Treetopia extended their special savings a whole month, calling it Black November. We like that. Alibaba with their Single’s Day sale started promoting it and taking orders one month ahead of time, too. Seems like having a whole month to have special pricing helps draw in more sales. With only 42 days to Christmas, Treetopia, an artificial colorful Christmas tree retailer, is in its prime selling season and sent us our first seasonal email.

Treetopia’s email caught our attention. During their Black November, their email offered “exclusive mystery savings” of 5%, 10%, or 15%. You have to click on “Reveal my exclusive offer” to see your savings. Who can resist this? Even if you didn’t want to buy anything, we are curious beings and just want to know if we got the best offer. Once there, we get a special code to use at checkout and since we are already there, we might as well look around. It’s a great way to get consumers to act.

The email was artfully crafted and did so many things right. Once we click through to the site, we are congratulated. We feel we really won. Then we see it is a special sale just for friends and family. They are drawing us into the inner circle. Treetopia puts some urgency on the offer with the sale lasting only another day. Their call to action — Shop Now — seems noncommittal, so why not click since we will save money anyway?! It was well designed, low pressure, and got us thinking about Christmas trees. If we didn’t already have three artificial trees, we might have bought another one!
