Can Someone Simplify My TV Service?

AT&T U-verse, Netflix, Hulu, Time Warner Cable, Amazon Prime, Direct TV, and Dish are some of the service options for having channels available to watch TV programming. We used to have Direct TV, then we switched to U-verse. Now we are thinking of going with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Why is watching TV so complicated these days?

We were moving, so we decided to transfer our U-Verse service. It just didn’t go well. The technician said the order was so screwed up that it would take him 10 hours to straighten it out and then install it. That seemed like a long time, but I’m no installer efficiency expert. We ended up cancelling the service and trying to get everything we watch covered with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.

We all have television shows we like. We usually DVR our shows and watch them when it is convenient for us. That is a huge plus for TV programming today — that you can watch it after it airs. During the transition time before all our TVs were hooked up, my daughter watched a TV episode on her laptop since she couldn’t access the DVR. It worked fine. With the networks offering viewing capabilities on their websites, it really makes you wonder why we need all these other services. Many of us seem to be finding out that we actually don’t. 

It takes a little extra effort to find what you want to watch on Hulu or Amazon Prime or Netflix but a lot of it is available. If you are more techie, you will realize this has all been combined for you. You can choose from Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku, or Google Chromecast. This is the way of the future. If you have someone really techie, they’ll set up a folder for you with all of your shows, then you can select and click. Sounds like an opportunity for someone.
