iPads are cool. iPads Minis are mini cool. Now Mormon missionaries can be cool too! The Mormon church decided that their missionaries should have iPad Minis to reach people interested in joining the church. In a smart move, they conducted a test with 6,500 iPad minis and found it to be successful. Now they are rolling the technology out to 32,000 missionaries.

Mormons used to knock on the doors of people’s homes asking them to join their church. That still works well in some parts of the world, but not as well in countries that are infiltrated with technology. Mormons will now be able to use Facebook to reach people and to communicate with church leaders. It is a sign of the times. Most churches have websites and a Facebook presence. It only makes sense they should be able to communicate via technology as well.

In a further embracing of technology, the Mormons outfitted the iPad Minis with several apps that help men and women in their missionary work, including a gospel app that includes scriptures, manuals, magazines, and other teaching materials. Technology can be a useful thing, and it is exciting that churches are utilizing it. People interested in the church may be impressed with the style of the presentation via the iPad and may feel joining is also a cool thing.
