Starting a new company can be a very exciting and cash-draining venture. Most companies don’t last five years, according to most statics. However, New York state is working to create a start-up culture to take the state into new heights of entrepreneurship with the assistance of a cool website and business incentives to make Silicon Valley kids think about moving East.

Startupny.com is the virtual hub that houses the brilliance of forward thinking by New York’s best and brightest in the worlds of business and politics. New York’s governor, Mr. Andrew Cuomo, has set the stage for technology, health care, and various other businesses to strive and grow in New York state.

New York has created what they call “SUNY Tax-free Areas to Revitalize and Transform Upstate NY.” It is Governor Cuomo’s initiative to transform SUNY university campuses and other university communities across the state into tax-free communities for new and expanding businesses. These businesses will receive free office space upwards of 200,000 square feet and for 10 years in which they don’t have to pay taxes.

No taxes! 100% tax-free. We’re talking no business tax, personal tax, property tax, sales tax, income tax, corporate tax, local tax. Can't wait to hear what the 1% has to say about that. Occupy Wall Street members may want to go and collaborate with a New York state college or university. Companies are eligible to utilize any unused land on campuses as well to build right on their partner universities’ sites.

Companies who start in this program will have the ability to utilize the resources and staff at many colleges and universities. Plus, the universities who have become partners in this program will get to utilize these companies to provide invaluable business expertise to up-and-coming professionals. These corporations will also be able to recruit and train students to increase these schools’ job placement percentages and raise the perception of New York business overall.

This is a partnership made in heaven for tech and research start-ups. Manufacturers can also truly benefit from what the state is doing to take business to new heights. Unfortunately, not all businesses classify, but for those that do the sky is the limit.

The program is so big that it has ads running on Bloomberg news to announce all the great things happening in New York. New York has troves of people flocking to the state just to be part of the action. With 120,000 experts on various topics across the state’s spectrum of education ready to assist with everything New York business, local and national companies will be ready to grow the economy for  generations to come. Watch out, West Coast. The East Coast boys are coming!
