If You Eat Cheerios, You'll Get a Puppy?

One of the Viewers’ Top 10 commercials from Super Bowl 2014 was Cheerios “Gracie." Pieces of Cheerios cereal were lined up on the table to visually count members of the family and how the family was going to be expanding with a new baby. The endearing part of the commercial was how this cute little girl added one more Cheerio to the group and was able to also add a puppy to the family.

Cheerios is a classic breakfast cereal made by General Mills that has been around since 1941. Most of us have eaten bowls of Cheerios or fed it to our children. Cheerios even carries the claim of helping reduce cholesterol.

General Mills and Cheerios are about more than just breakfast cereal and maybe that’s why they have been around so long. Cheerios has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote reading with FirstBook.org and has given away millions of books through Cheerios boxes. Cheerios also promotes The Family Breakfast Project, which is a collaboration between Cheerios and the Family Dinner Project.

The Family Breakfast Project encourages the family to connect over breakfast with a little bit of quality time. Studies show that breakfast is associated with improved nutrition, healthier body weights, and better school performance. The Project suggests that a little time together at breakfast can not only be healthy, but can make a big difference in the strength of the family unit. Cheerios hopes more families will eat breakfast together and will have meaningful conversations like the commercial showed.
