It’s award show season! While most are placing bets on personal favorites to win among the nominees for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, I’m curious about which shows are winning the social media face-off on Facebook. The SAG Awards are airing this Sunday and ahead of the award show I’ve decided to take a look at which shows in the categories of Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series are doing the best on Facebook.

In the category of Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, The Big Bang Theory comfortably takes the title for most Facebook likes among the nominees with more than 24 million likes. The Big Bang Theory appears to be engaging its Facebook audience with “caption this…” posts, tons of brief clips from the series, and lately lots of award show season buzz. 30 Rock wins for capturing the highest fan engagement of all the comedy series nominees with a 2.3% engagement rate.** A good mix of quotes, imagery, and clips from the show, in addition to a few more nostalgic posts than usual as the show nears the last show of its final season.

In the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series category, Breaking Bad wins the award for the most Facebook likes with more than 4 million. Breaking Bad is currently on a hiatus until the new season begins this summer; however, this isn’t stopping the series from keeping its page active. The majority of the series’ posts are links to content on the Breaking Bad blog, offering news about the show and its cast members. In general, the Facebook audiences for the drama series nominees are much smaller than the comedy series nominees, with more than half of the comedies nominated having at least twice the number of Facebook likes of the Breaking Bad series. Among the shows nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, Downton Abbey has the largest Facebook engagement rate with a whopping 38.6%. Downton Abbey is currently in its third season and is keeping its audience engaged with witty character photo and quote pairings, questions, and exclusive content.

Tune in to the SAG Awards on Sunday, January 27 to find out which shows win the highly coveted awards!
